An Invitation to Alpha Phi Omega Chapters

Leadership, Friendship, Service, and Justice with Brother Rashid Darden

Brother Rashid Darden was initiated into Alpha Phi Omega at Georgetown University in 1999 through Mu Alpha Chapter. He has been in the Society of Life Members since 2001. His service to Alpha Phi Omega includes sustained leadership at the local, sectional, regional, and national levels, with a focus on alumni engagement, organizational development, and volunteer leadership.

Brother Darden has served Alpha Phi Omega in roles including National Alumni Relations Program Chairman, Vice Chairman of Alumni Relations and Internal Volunteer Development, member of the National Operations Council, Region III Alumni Council Chairman, President of the Mu Alpha Alumni Association, and founding president of the Uptown District of Columbia Alumni Association.


A Program Rooted in Service and Leadership

Brother Darden offers chapters a program focused on how service, leadership, and justice work together in today’s social and civic environment. His work invites members to reflect on how Alpha Phi Omega’s mission continues to call for thoughtful leadership, honest self-examination, and community-centered action.

Topics may include:

  • The role of service in changing social conditions
  • Leadership development in volunteer organizations
  • How justice and equity shape effective service
  • Building strong chapter culture
  • Sustaining engagement across generations

Program Formats

Chapters may invite Brother Darden for:

  • Chapter meetings and retreats
  • Leadership development programs
  • Service and civic engagement conversations
  • Alumni and undergraduate joint programs
  • Workshops on chapter operations and volunteer leadership

Programs may be offered as a keynote-style address, facilitated discussion, or workshop format, based on the chapter’s goals.
