Rashid Darden has been part of fraternal communities beginning in 1999. At Georgetown University, he became part of the Mu Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity. Through Mu Alpha, Rashid got his first taste of the grant distribution process when his position as Vice President of Communications allowed him to administer the Rev. Daniel E. Power Scholarship and Grant for Summer Service.
Four years later, Rashid was chosen to join the ranks of Alpha Phi Alpha men through Washington’s Mu Lambda Chapter, the oldest of three alumni chapters in the District of Columbia. He has served on the national, regional, district, and chapter levels.
In 2010, Rashid became acquainted with the founders of Gamma Xi Phi and joined them as an organizational consultant. He became a charter member of the Beta Chapter in Washington, DC, and went on to become National Executive Director and National President.
Rashid became a member of the Prince Hall Affiliated Freemasons with 90 other men through a Grand Master’s Class in The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of Maryland and Its Jurisdiction, Inc. His lodge of record is Shelton D. Redden Lodge No. 139.
