Elegy for Tymex

September 13, 2017 by Rashid

for Tymon Birchett

Tick tock he don’t stop
tick tock he don’t stop
tick
tock
he
just
don’t
stop

Today I found out that tymex died

Time did not run out for tymex
tymex did not run out of time
tymex outran time
tick
tock
he still can’t be stopped

Tymex
keeps on
slipping
slipping, slipping
into the future

His soul was released
escaped from the prison of
his hourglass
his sands scattered throughout
the ages

His soul sands travel the ages
he was there when
the first drum sticks were made
out of bone

I hear his laughter in my heartbeat
